Peace and rest

My boys are out of school for the summer and our mornings are more relaxed. We wake when our bodies are ready and we can go through the day without rushing.

Last night, after the dishes were done and the house had settled in, I sat in the rocker on our front porch and listened to the sounds.  The birds had settled in to their nests, the only sounds were from the occasional frog croaking.  I watched the lightning bugs signal to each other as  the breeze blew enough to cool off the day.

Peace. It is a lovely sound and a lovely feeling.  I knew God was watching over us as we went to bed and even throughout our day.

When Jesus was on the boat crossing the Sea of Galilee and a storm came up He spoke to it and said, “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:35-41).

After all of our storms it would seem that Jesus has spoken “Peace” over our family.

So when we wake we are rested, refreshed, and at peace.  Sure storms will still come, but the ones that do are under the Master’s control.  And I can rest safe in His everlasting arms.

Where do you rest?
