I’ve been sewing this afternoon, hand-quilting an English paper-piece quilt that I started a few years ago. Each piece of fabric is a one inch hexagon that I hand stitch to the next one until it makes a larger piece. Each hexagon is a piece of fabric remnant from prior quilts made for friends and family.

My quilt is a lot like God’s family. He takes each of us and pieces us together into one beautiful creation.

We are intricate, unique, beautiful creations of God. When we allow Him to bring us together into community with other believers it becomes an incredible piece.

It takes some scissors for trimming, some thread and needles for tucks and piecing together. Just like the way God trims away the excess and brings us into order and “straightens” us out so we can be useful in His kingdom.
