Sing the good

I spent the morning talking with people who needed something from me.  Information, assistance, clarity, etc.  Each one needed something from me, I found myself tired by the time lunch came around.  If I had been offered to leave and go home to take a nap, I would have take someone up on it.

My spirit was weak, drained, and battered from my conversations.  I didn’t know how I was going to finish my tasks with any kind of joy– let alone Christ’s joy. Then I was reminded.  I have the ability to change the route I am on.  I can “Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take” (Jeremiah 31:21). Just because I was on the road to Crankyville didn’t mean I had to stay on it.  I could return to the City of Joy.

My “home” church streams their weekly messages and I have found courage, wisdom, correction, and joy when I am connected that way.  Today was no different.

I found myself plugged in and being filled in my very empty vessel with the blessing of music.  Each word sung by the worship team reminded me to sing of the good God has done in me and through me.  I was reminded that no matter my situation, God is good all the time, all the time- God is good.

So here is to 2016:

  • I have a home
  • a family
  • a job
  • food in the cabinets and fridge
  • the freedom to worship the God who saved me
  • clothes to keep me warm
  • all of my senses
  • while my spirit may be weak, my God is strong

I am reminded of the simplicity of children who when they are blessed, happy, and full of joy they sing.  They dance, they rejoice.  The celebration in their spirit cannot help but overflow to those around them.  My prayer is for me to become more childlike in 2016.  May I remember to “sing the good” and pray for the bad in my life.

Let us become more aware of your presence, let us experience the Glory of your goodness and from this may you Shine your light and let the whole world see, we’re singing for the glory of the risen King.

for Worthy is the Lamb, you are Holy, Holy, Holy, are you Lord God Almighty…
